We have been servicing our A4 at the local dealer for years, but were always disappointed with the time it took to perform work, the difficulty in communicating with their service adviser and, of course, their prices. We justified putting up with their deficiencies because they always provided a free loaner car that limited the inconvenience of having a car in the shop and mitigating the impact of the length of time it took them to repair our vehicle and , after all, they are the manufacturer's representative. On our most recent visit it took them one full week to diagnose and replace a leaking radiator cap ($165). When we went to pick up our vehicle we were provided a report containing recommendations for a litany of necessary and significant repairs including timing belt replacement, motor mount replacement, suspension bushing bushing replacement, and a brake flush for an estimated price of just under $5,000. Faced with a project of that size, and given their past performance, we decided to research alternatives. We read numerous online reviews from multiple websites and sought counsel from a few "car guys" that we knew. The unanimous opinion was that we should try European Autowerks for a better experience. We first sought to simply compare estimates for the same scope of work, but to their credit, we were advised that European Autowerks would not do that without first inspecting the vehicle. We brought the car in and each of the listed repairs was confirmed as necessary. The price estimate, however, was for $3,300, a full $1,700 less than at the dealer. That would have been sufficient to convert our loyalty from the dealer to European Autowerks, but it turns out to have only been the first of several happy surprises that awaited us. We brought the car in for the work the following day at noon. First, we were provided a complimentary loaner car for the duration of our repairs. Second, instead of having to hound the dealer for status on my vehicle's repairs, our service adviser regularly texted me with updated status on the progress of repairs including photos. Additional work discovered in the course of performing the repairs were documented with photos and texted to me for a decision. Third, the work was completed and a clean car delivered the following day. Our service adviser told us that if there were any symptoms of problems, to bring the car back immediately and they would address it for us. Given the extensive scope of work performed, I fully expected that there would be follow-ups necessary. After one full week, that has not been the case. The car has performed flawlessly, thanks, I presume, the the expertise and attention to detail of the mechanical staff at European Autowerks. Those are the facts. I can't imagine having a better car repair experience. The entire process, administratively, and mechanically was a thing of beauty. Congratulations to the leadership at European Autowerks for getting it so right. I can't imagine a reason to bring our vehicle anywhere else for service.
